Extraco de XVII Coral de año nuevo para la patria en tinieblas incluido en el libro Canto general es el décimo poemario de Pablo Neruda, premio Nobel de literatura chileno, publicado por primera vez en México, en los Talleres Gráficos de la Nación, en 1950. Originalmente el libro iba ser concebido como un canto nacional, dedicado a explorar poéticamente los episodios históricos chilenos. Sin embargo, sus viajes por América modificaron su visión.
