En este capítulo: La Expedición Libertadora del Perú fue una fuerza militar anfibia creada en el año 1820 con la misión de independizar el Perú y para llevarla a cabo se firmó el 5 de febrero de 1819 un tratado entre Argentina y Chile. La fuerza sería organizada en Chile por dicho gobierno, justamente Bernardo O´Higgins como director Supremo de Chile nombró a José de San Martín jefe del ejército, y al marino británico Thomas Alexander Cochrane comandante de la flota naval
